Mac users should be sure to install latest Java. It may help resolve some of these issues. Certainly worth a try.

Brian, I have a MacBook Air running Yosemite latest version. I don't think it's your cable as I've used a number of different cables without issue. I think it's your FTDI driver. Go to the FTDIchip.com site and search for Document Reference No.: FT_000201 which is the load instructions for Macintosh...

The Plum Geek Programmer uses a Mini USB connector so you will need a USB to Mini USB cable to connect it to your computer.
