Re: Serial port not showing up.

Trent, I think there is definitely something wrong with your programmer if you're not getting charging when the jumper is in place. If the 5v power from your USB cable is getting into the board at all, it should be charging. Maybe have a close look where the green fuse connects in the upper left an...

Re: Serial port not showing up.

Oh, and to provide the full details requested: 1) Two machines running Windows 7, fully patched, and one Macbook Air running OS X 10.10.3. 2) FTDI drivers were installed before ever plugging in the board, with an admin account, and all indications were that it was successful. 3) I was able to manua...

Re: Serial port not showing up.

I am barely registering 0.01V on C4 on my board. I verified the same cable is charging Ringo when plugged in directly, and checked the multimeter against a AA battery to make sure it was working fine first.

Re: Serial port not showing up.

A visual inspection doesn't reveal any problems with the board. Best picture I could get is attached. I checked the Device Manager when it was plugged in to see if anything showed up there for manual driver setup, but it is not registering there at all.

Re: Serial port not showing up.

I just got the new USB cable I ordered and still no luck. I tried two different Windows 7 PCs and a Mac with the same results. None of them make any noise or give any indication a device is connected when it is plugged in.

Re: Serial port not showing up.

I tried a couple other cables I could find, but no success. I have ordered a new one that is explicitly 5-pin and will try it when it arrives, hopefully tomorrow. If that doesn't work, then I am at a loss. I wish that Ringo came with a USB cable that was known to work.

Re: Serial port not showing up.

Do you have any idea what the difference is between the 'good' cable and the 'bad' cable? USB 1.0 vs 2.0 standard? AWG rating? Ferrite core? I will hunt around for some different A to Mini-B cables to try before buying another, but if none work I want to make sure I am buying the right thing.

Re: Serial port not showing up.

I am having the exact same problem. I tried this on two different PCs, both running Windows 7, and neither recognized the Ringo when it is plugged in through the programming board. If I plug it in directly via USB the charge light does come on, but not when it is connected through the programming bo...
