Wink/Ringo on MacOS Sierra

Hey all. I wanted to pass along some feedback I received from someone using Mac OS Sierra. Apparently the FTDI driver (the driver for the programming adapter) isn't required on Sierra, and installing the driver may cause the port to not show up. He was able to verify the programmer is plug and play ...

Re: Wink in the Classroom

Hello Mr Pengilley, Thanks for the post and good question. I'm always interested to hear feedback as well. It won't help in the short term but our Wink 2 units will be available in the next few weeks that move the programmer hardware onto the robot itself and eliminates the ribbon cable - now just a...

Re: Blew up plumduino by applying 12V to vin

Hello Carl, Sorry to hear that. The connection on the board is intended for 5 volts so it make sense that you saw smoke. The smoke probably came from a diode to the left of D7 but that would tell me a lot of current was going someplace else as well. That line connects to most of the parts on the boa...

Re: arduino/wink issue

I'll have a look into this. By selecting the board, we're really just telling the compiler and the program that uploads the program what target board we're using. There is a bootloader on the target that only accepts incoming code at a certain pre defined baud rate. We use 57600 on all our units. An...

Re: Preloaded Behaviour Bugged

Hey jahbulon,

I'm pretty sure we followed up via email on this and it was corrected - if not, please use the contact form on the website and we can exchange some screen shots of the problem.

Thanks,
-Kevin

Re: Ringo won't power on ... dead?

Hey positronic, If the power switch was left turned on for a long time (like days or weeks) it's possible the battery was drained really low. When you plug a USB from a computer direct to the robot, do you get the charge LED turning on? If you have a volt meter, try to measure voltage on the under s...

ADVISORY! WINK/RINGO PROGRAMMERS!

Hello all. We've had isolated reports over the past few months of robots getting warm then failing to charge or power on. We were not able to recreate the problem for a while but we've recently found the root cause. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE RIBBON CABLE IS INCORRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE ROBOT. TH...

Re: Overheating wink wont turn on

Hello jill- We've recently got to the bottom of what is happening when this occurs. We've had isolated examples of this happening and were never able to recreate the problem but we've got it figured out now. This getting hot issue happens when the ribbon cable is connected incorrectly. If it is conn...

Re: Spirit Machine Vision Discussion

Thanks guys. As far as making things simple, I'm not trying to teach the underlying theory of computer vision (at least not to start). I'm looking to create some simple python functions that do simple things, like find the biggest blue blob and return its center coordinates. That's what I'm doing wi...
