Hello all. We've had isolated reports over the past few months of robots getting warm then failing to charge or power on. We were not able to recreate the problem for a while but we've recently found the root cause.
THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE RIBBON CABLE IS INCORRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE ROBOT. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE AVOIDED BY CLIPPING 2 PINS ON YOUR PROGRAMMER BOARD (SEE NOTE BELOW FOR ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE CORRECT PINS). WE RECOMMEND FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ADVISORY BELOW TO CLIP THESE PINS WHICH WILL PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE, EVEN IF THE CABLE IS CONNECTED INCORRECTLY.
PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ADVISORY HERE:
If you have a robot you believe has this damage, please contact us via the Contact form on our website and we'll work with you to get the unit repaired. The damaged part is easy for us to fix.
